PS Canberra Service Update

Updated 3 September 2026

Murray River Paddlesteamers advises that PS Canberra will be temporarily out of service for approximately three weeks following an incident on the Murray River near the Echuca-Moama Bridge on Thursday, 3 September.

PS Canberra struck a submerged log while operating without passengers onboard.

There were no passengers onboard and no injuries were reported. Our crew followed all safety procedures and acted quickly to secure the vessel.

PS Canberra will now undergo the necessary inspections and repairs before returning to service.

Existing Bookings

Our reservations team will contact all guests whose bookings are affected to discuss their available options.

If you have an affected booking, there is no need to contact us at this stage. We will contact you directly.

Other Murray River Paddlesteamers Cruises

Our overnight cruise operations aboard PS Emmylou and the upcoming PS Australian Star are not affected and are operating as scheduled.

We appreciate the understanding and support of our guests while the necessary work is completed and look forward to welcoming PS Canberra back to the Murray River soon.

We will update this page when a confirmed return-to-service date is available.
