Operations Update
PS Canberra is currently undergoing repairs at the Echuca slip. We expect paddlesteamer cruises to resume shortly aboard another historic Echuca paddlesteamer, with services planned throughout the upcoming school holidays. Cruise schedules and bookings will be released soon.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the recovery operation and to the Echuca-Moama community and Canberra’s many friends for the incredible support and messages we have received over the past week.
We will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
PS Emmylou and PS Australian Star overnight cruise operations are not affected and are operating as scheduled.
PS Canberra secured after striking submerged log near Echuca-Moama Bridge.
Murray River Paddlesteamers can confirm its paddlesteamer, Canberra, struck a submerged log near the Echuca-Moama Bridge today, 3rd September.
No passengers were on board at the time and no injuries were reported. Crew followed all safety procedures throughout, acting quickly to secure the vessel, and there is no danger to the local community as a result.
“Our crew responded quickly and followed all safety procedures, ensuring the vessel was secured with no risk to passengers, crew or the local community. We thank them for their professionalism, and our focus now is on fully understanding what occurred so we can get the PS Canberra back on the water and operating again as soon as possible,” said Murray River Paddlesteamers Director, Craig Burgess.
The 114-year-old Canberra is used for day cruises on the Murray River from Echuca.
