PS Emmylou provides sun decks and loungers, Redgums Restaurant and Bar on the saloon deck and a relaxing private front lounge. The PS Emmylou is the only wood-fired paddlesteamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Catering for just 18 guests in 9 cabins Emmylou exudes old-world charm whilst offering modern comforts. Emmylou is fuelled by redgum logs and is driven by a completely restored 1906 steam engine built to the highest world classification standards. She is now an Australian icon featuring on many Australian Tourism media promotions and is perfectly at home in the historical Port of Echuca, residing with the very few remaining paddlesteamers of the past.

    Saturday Evening

  • 5.45pm - Board PS Emmylou
  • 6.00pm - Depart Riverboat dock - Watson Street - Berth 4
  • 7.00pm - Dinner is served as we cruise upstream away from the Port of Echuca before turning at Horse Shoe Bend. Enjoy the sunset, listen to the river birds evening chorus, then linger over your dessert and coffee to watch the stars appear. We continue downstream back under the Echuca/Moama Bridge where we pass the imposing Echuca Wharf and other Paddlesteamers moored after their day on the river. We cruise 12km along the river passing Morrisons Winery which is a great lunch spot before pulling into our mooring for the evening at Layfield Lane. Here we set up a campfire (subject to weather) under the stars where you can enjoy a good yarn with your fellow passengers. Relax with a beverage from the bar or roast marshmallows before retiring for the evening at your leisure.

    Sunday Morning

  • 7.30am Fully cooked or continental breakfast is served. Watch the engineer fire up the engine with redgum logs for new steam or enjoy a morning bush walk
  • 8.00am We depart Layfield Lane for our cruise back to port. You are welcome to try your hand steering the boat with the skipper or just relax as we cruise back to Echuca
  • 9.00am Arrive Port of Echuca for your transfer back to your car or connecting train

  • 5.30pm Guest bag drop at PS Emmylou’s berth 4 dock. Watson Street, Echuca Cars transferred to secure parking

  • 8.30am This morning your depart via bus on your Wetlands Culture & Wine Day Tour
  • 9.15am Arrive at Barmah. Visit the Dharnya Indigenous Centre for a welcome to country smoking ceremony by the local Yorta Yorta people. Optional short interpretive walk can be undertaken guided by local Yorta Yorta folk.
  • 11.00am Depart on Kingfisher Wetland Tour. Nowhere else in the world can you experience such timeless natural beauty and peace as when you are gliding through the World-Heritage listed Barmah Wetlands aboard the MV Kingfisher.
  • 12.30pm Depart for Cape Horn Winery located on the Murray River.
  • 1.00pm Arrive Cape Horn Winery for lunch. Enjoy woodfired pizza and cheese boards with compliementry wine tastings. Time to walk through the vines and relax
  • 3.00pm Your bus depart for Port of Echuca to continue your cruise.
  • 4.00pm PS Emmylou departs downstream. Time to freshen up and enjoy a drink from the bar before dinner is served.
  • 7.00pm 3 course dinner is served at Redgums Restaurant, Saloon Deck.
  • 9.00pm Arrive Layfield Lane for overnight mooring – Campfire subject to weather

    Great Murray River experience

    My husband & I recently shared a great two night experience on PS Emmylou. Being our first visit to this area we wanted to see as much possible. Murray River Paddlesteamers made sure of this with the bonus of a visit to the Dharnya Indigineous Centre for a cultural experience, a cruise on the Kingfisher through the world heritage Barmah wetlands with excellent commentary & a bonus of a visit to a vineyard on the Murray where we enjoyed woodfired pizzas in the beautiful grounds of Cape Horn.

    The Emmylou experience was one we will always remember, thanks to Rowen & his wonderful friendly team, right from my first contact with Kathy in the office down to "Dan the man" in the steam-room (& best the best evening campfires ). The operating team on board were amazing, providing friendly service at all times. The food & service was excellent with Chef Kerry serving up amazing meals & Jo looking after us with food & drinks. Captain James was at the Helm & made sure we saw the best of the Murray. As a bonus the passengers were excellent company - it's amazing how in only 2 days we were like a big happy family by the end of the cruise.
