Experience Authentic River Cruising with PS Emmylou
"We are delighted to be awarded one of Australia's "Best Historical Tours" by FlightNetwork and "Silver, Unique Accommodation" in the 2017 Victorian Tourism Awards"
Let PS Emmylou treat you to an unforgettable river cruise along the Murray River for an Authentic Australian River adventure. Experience the magic and majesty of the spectacular scenery of Australia's longest river and follow in the wake of early history when Echuca was Australia's largest inland port.
Cruise aboard a traditional wood fired paddlesteamer and let your senses engage the moment you board: smell the warm oil of the engine, feel the heat as the engineer stokes the boiler with redgum logs, climb up to the wheelhouse to chat to the skipper, or just sit and gaze at the changing reflections in the water. Let the lilting rhythm and swish of the paddlewheels, the nostalgic hooting of the whistle, and the distant song of the Currawongs and Kookaburras conjure up the leisurely pace of bygone days. Along the way you’ll enjoy magical sunsets through the towering Redgums and watch the moon rise to accompany the stars on a clear night. In the mornings smell the mist that rolls upstream and watch for a great variety of Australian wildlife starting their day in the wild.
Step back in time and let Emmylou connect you to Australian history, geography, culture and cuisine. You will enjoy riverside campfires, BBQ's, chef prepared meals, winery visits, offboat excursions to World Heritage wetlands, historical homestead and Australian history & culture, all whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of Australia's most famous river, the Murray!
The PS Emmylou is the only wood-fired paddlesteamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Emmylou provides sun decks and loungers, Redgums Restaurant and Bar on the Saloon Deck and plenty of relaxing areas for a great book. Catering for adults, just 18 guests in 9 brand new classic cabins can experience Emmylou's old-world charm whilst offering modern comforts. Emmylou is fuelled by local Redgum logs and is driven by a completely restored 1906 steam engine built to the highest world classification standards. She is now an Australian icon featuring on many Australian Tourism media promotions and is perfectly at home in the historical Port of Echuca, residing with the very few remaining paddlesteamers of the past.
